On Thursday, Sept. 10, the Lowcountry Food Bank received a $75,000 donation from its foundation — a milestone gift to fund feeding programs, equipment purchases and special projects.
Board Chair Steve Swanson said the donation supports Hunger Action Month efforts in the community.

Ferguson Family Mattress, serving Summerville for over 20 years, announced it will permanently close with a going-out sale offering discounts up to 50%.
The sale will begin privately on Sept. 16 then open on Sept. 17 at its store (464 Azalea Square Blvd., Unit C).
O’Charley’s Restaurant + Bar, a Nashville-based chain with a 55-year history, closed its last Summerville restaurant on Sept.
9 as the chain has been shedding locations since 2016 amid economic challenges.

More than 80 authors will join the Charleston Literary Festival this November, offering public readings and discussions for local literature fans.

Larissa Szafranski now leads the Summerville Boys Volleyball team after former coach Steven DiPaolo moved to head the Green Wave Boys Soccer program+ the team will compete in the Foothills Fall Classic on Sept.
