On Saturday (around 4:16 p.m.), Summerville Fire Rescue responded to a fire in the Palmetto Park neighborhood that rescued a trapped resident but resulted in the loss of the family's pets due to smoke inhalation.

SC Works Trident will host four career fairs in September to connect job seekers with public and private employers, including one in Summerville — held at Rollins Edwards Community Center.
Attendees can bring updated resumes and meet career coaches as part of Workforce Development Month.
Gas prices in South Carolina reached $3.61 per gallon on Monday as they rose nearly 5 cents from last week, according to GasBuddy's survey of 3,028 stations.
The survey showed prices were 87 cents higher than a year ago.
